Run Stripe and Zoneless Side by Side

Keep accepting card payments with Stripe while using Zoneless to pay marketplace sellers anywhere in USDC.

Stripe payments and Zoneless payouts working side by side

You do not have to replace Stripe to start using Zoneless. For most marketplaces, the best setup today is to keep Stripe for customer payments and use Zoneless for seller payouts.

Buyers can carry on paying by card. Sellers get a faster and cheaper way to receive their earnings. You can add it without rebuilding your checkout or moving everything at once.

Keep cards, replace payouts

Most customers do not have a crypto wallet, so it makes little sense to remove card payments. Stripe can carry on handling your checkout exactly as it does now.

The payout side is different. Sellers mainly want to receive their money quickly, without losing a large part of it to fees. This matters even more when your sellers live in different countries.

If you use Stripe Connect's separate charges and transfers model, Zoneless can replace the transfers and payouts part of that flow. You still take the original payment through Stripe. When the seller is due their share, you transfer it to their Zoneless account and pay it to their wallet.

The payout is made in USDC, a digital dollar that is designed to stay equal in value to the US dollar. It moves over the Solana network and usually arrives in seconds.

To cover payouts, buy the USDC you need through an exchange and fund your Zoneless platform wallet.

Reuse your Stripe integration

Zoneless follows Stripe's API, so you keep working with familiar resources such as Accounts, Account Links, Transfers, Payouts, and Events. Webhooks follow the same pattern too.

In many places, you only need to change the SDK, API key, and client name. There are a few differences to account for:

  • The currency is USDC instead of USD or another bank currency.
  • Sellers connect Solana wallets instead of bank accounts.
  • Your platform funds and controls its own wallet.
  • Your server signs and submits payout transactions.
  • Zoneless has its own account headers, ID prefixes, and webhook signature header.

The migration guide explains these changes with code examples.

Simple seller onboarding

Zoneless includes hosted onboarding and an Express-style dashboard, similar to Stripe Connect Express. You create a connected account, send the seller an onboarding link, and Zoneless guides them through connecting a wallet. If they do not have one, it shows them how to create one.

Once paid, the seller can keep or spend their USDC, or move it to an exchange and withdraw it to their bank account in their local currency. The marketplace quickstart shows the whole flow.

74% chose Zoneless

I use this setup at PromptBase, a marketplace with more than 500,000 users. Buyers can pay as normal, then sellers choose between Stripe and Zoneless for their payouts.

I expected most sellers to stick with the bank payout they already knew. Instead, 74% chose Zoneless. Speed matters, and sellers are generally happy to try a new payout method when the steps are clear.

It has also cut our payout costs. A Zoneless payout currently uses about $0.002 in Solana network fees. Stripe Connect can charge for each active account, each payout, cross-border transfers, and currency conversion. You can compare the current figures in our fee comparison.

Move the rest later

You can start with payouts and move the rest later. Zoneless also has Checkout, Payment Links, and Subscriptions. They look and work much like their Stripe versions, but customers pay with stablecoins.

The full payment stack is open source and can be self-hosted. This gives you control of your payment infrastructure without the usual percentage fees.

You do not need to make the choice for every seller on day one. Add Zoneless as an option, let sellers decide how they want to be paid, and keep Stripe running alongside it for as long as you need.
